Dan Koivulaakso, 41, is State Secretary to Finland’s Minister of Education and affiliated with the Left Alliance party. He has previously worked as Head of Cabinet for the Minister, Policy and Communications Lead for his party and negotiator for one Finland’s biggest labor unions. Koivulaakso has worked extensively on various political campaigns, co-authored two books and served as City Councillor in Helsinki for eight years. His initial political background is in social movements relating to migration and anti-racism.
