Dieter Janecek was elected to the German parliament for The Greens in the federal elections in 2013. He is a member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and previously also served on the Committee on the Digital Agenda. During the negotiations of the so-called traffic light coalition treaty after the federal elections in 2021, he was part of his party’s delegation in the working group on innovation and research.
