Wolfgang Schmidt is Head of the Federal Chancellery and Federal Minister for Special Tasks. Prior to his appointment, he served as State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance. Before joining the Ministry of Finance, he served as State Secretary and Plenipotentiary of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg to the Federation, the European Union and for foreign affairs.
