Mayor’s Session
13 October 2022 I 15:15 – 16:15 (CEST) | Main Stage Berlin
About the Session
The transatlantic alliance is on unstable ground. From the climate crisis to threats to democratic institutions, stronger partnerships are needed for urgent global cooperation against today’s crises. Cities as economic and innovative centers can fill this role without the burden of geopolitical conflict of interest while bringing democratic legitimacy as home to an ever-increasing part of the population. Most importantly, cities give local actors a voice on global issues. This session will examine how cities are stable progressive actors and how they can emerge as the heart of the transatlantic partnership and international progress.
