Urban Power: Uniting Progressives in Cities & Across Regions
About the Session
What powers urban progress? Modern cities have become centers of innovation, jobs, and progressive politics, often in direct contrast to national settings. They have also developed crucial regional and international networks capable of exchanging their best practices and tackling global challenges. However despite all of their success, the very same urban areas are not free from inequality or injustice. To facilitate a debate on how urban areas can be more just, urban practitioners will present the NOVA Cities Index, an index that helps city leaders focus on how to make their city more innovative, green, and equitable for all. With city leaders and urban experts from both sides of the Atlantic, we will then debate how useful these metrics are and how urban power can bring progress locally, regionally and transatlantically.
